Pushing boundaries in Advocacy for Inclusion

What is the best way to strengthen political participation of people facing marginalisation and discrimination in the global South? How can unheard voices be amplified and connected in efforts to leave no one behind? What evidence exists about effective advocacy methods and collaborations?

At the ‘Pushing boundaries in Advocacy for Inclusion’ conference over 200 professionals, activists, policy makers, media and academics exchanged knowledge, experiences and emerging insights on advocacy for inclusion. Key themes were the success factors of advocacy, the importance of intersectionality and the roles of Northern and Southern organisations in advocacy networks.

This conference is part of two ongoing learning trajectories on advocacy:

• 'Breaking down Barriers’ was initiated by the Liliane Foundation and the African Studies Centre (Leiden University) in 2015 to identify the success factors of advocacy for disability advocacy.

• The ‘Voices for Inclusion’ project is a collaboration between the Liliane Foundation, the Dutch Coalition on Disability and Development and Voice focusing on learning and cooperation between different rightsholders groups advocating for their inclusion and to have their rights respected.
